OREANDA-NEWS High-speed train "Allegro" will stop running between St. Petersburg and Helsinki from March 26. It was reported by RIA Novosti referring to a Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat. According to journalists' information the authorities of Finland considered the operation of the train unprofitable. They were going to stop the traffic at the beginning of March, but they decided to give their citizens an opportunity to return home from Russia.

The Russian news agency noted that Allegro had remained the only regular rail transport that worked between Russia and the EU. "Now it is clear that the situation with Allegro has changed, and the continuation of Allegro traffic is no longer feasible from the point of view of the state owner," said Finnish Minister of State Property Management Tutti Tuppurainen.

On March 1 it was reported that the Finnish state railway company VR Group notified the Russian Railways of the decision "to refrain from any contacts. But passenger traffic on the Allegro continued so that VR could give the Finns a chance to return home.

Tuppurainen said that all those who wished to return to Finland from Russia had already done so.

"Allegro" is a high-speed passenger dual-system electric train running on the Helsinki - St. Petersburg route. It was created by the Italian company Alstom. It is operated by Oy Karelian Trains, a joint venture between VR of Finland and Russian Railways.

Earlier, "Secret" wrote that the German Siemens has frozen the contract with Russian Railways for the supply of high-speed trains "Sapsan" in Russia.
