OREANDA-NEWS  Since the beginning of November, the Turkish authorities have banned flights through their airspace for Russian aircraft with double registration, RBC reports, citing Anna Podgornaya, a member of the board of directors of Nordwind Airlines, and sources in two Russian air carriers.

Due to the need to fly around Turkey, according to Podgornaya, the duration of flights, for example, to Egypt increased by 20-30 minutes, which, however, did not affect the cost of tours. The Ministry of Transport told RBC that they intend to discuss this issue with Ankara in the near future. The ministry noted that in order to exclude violations of the Chicago Convention, the Bermuda authorities need to exclude from their register aircraft that are registered and operated in Russia. According to the representative of the Ministry, delaying the deregistration by the Bermuda air registry is a gross violation of the convention.

"The situation today is such that unfriendly countries accuse us of creating a "double registration" and completely ignore the fact that they themselves violate the basic principles of the Chicago Convention," the agency interlocutor stressed.

In June, the Ministry of Transport reported that Russian airlines had sent notifications to Bermuda aviation authorities about the need to de-register aircraft. The ministry pointed out that in connection with the unilateral cancellation by the Bermuda aviation authorities of the certificates of airworthiness of Russian aircraft, Moscow suspended the intergovernmental agreement with Bermuda, according to which the functions of supervision over the maintenance of airworthiness of aircraft were carried out by local aviation authorities.
