OREANDA-NEWS AvtoVAZ will extend the shortened working week until the end of 2025. This decision was announced by Maxim Sokolov, president of the company, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

On the sidelines of the Made in Russia forum, the head of the automaker noted that reducing the working week would avoid a large accumulation of Lada cars in warehouses in 2026. The crisis of overproduction affects not only the financial model of the company, but also the entire car market, he explained. The company has been operating four days a week since the end of September.

"The plan that we submitted to the directors for approval, it assumes a return. It was necessary to unload the supplies," Sokolov added.

In 2025, AvtoVAZ expected to produce 500,000 cars, but the market failure amid increased recycling and an increase in the key rate forced the company to significantly adjust expectations and even switch to a four-day working week. If inflation is defeated and the key interest rate is lowered, Sokolov expressed hope, the automaker hopes to grow the national market next year to 1.5 million cars and increase its sales by 15-20 percent from the expected level in 2025.

Kamaz and the construction materials manufacturer Tsemros (formerly Eurocement) have already switched to four days. The manufacturer Uralvagonzavod has transferred only a part of its employees to a shorter working week.
