OREANDA-NEWS  Starting from January 1, 2026, the Chinese authorities will temporarily reduce import duties on 935 items of raw materials and industrial goods, they will be lower than the most-favored-nation rates that apply to all WTO member countries, according to a document published on the website of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

"Starting from January 1, 2026, the rates of import customs duties for certain goods will be adjusted," the State Council said in a statement.

It follows from the documents that temporary import duties will be applied to 935 goods, they will be lower than the most-favored-nation rates that apply to all WTO member countries, or equal to zero. This will affect many types of fish and seafood, cheese, avocados, and some minerals, including lithium, which is the main raw material for batteries, as well as gases, chemicals, and rare earth metals.
