OREANDA-NEWS Hungary has lifted its veto on the allocation of 6.6 billion euros from the European Peace Fund to Ukraine. This is reported by the Hungarian newspaper Népszava, citing sources.
"Hungary has been blocking the allocation of 6.6 billion euros by the European Union for two years to support the defense of Ukraine. Several sources have confirmed to Népszava that the last Hungarian veto against Ukraine has been lifted," the publication says.
Allegedly, the decision to use the funds of the European Peace Fund to support Kiev has already been made at the ambassadorial level. The funding allocated by the European Union (EU) is likely to be used to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense.
Earlier, Hungary approved negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. According to the country's Prime Minister Peter Magyar, the Ukrainian side has made the necessary changes to the legislation concerning the rights of Hungarians in Transcarpathia.
