According to the publication, the total area of European military factories has grown from 790 thousand square meters in 2020-2021 to 2.8 million square meters in 2024-2025. Rheinmetall and the Hungarian state defense company N7 Holding, specializing in the production of ammunition and explosives, achieved the greatest growth.
The authors of the material emphasize that the sharp expansion of production facilities is evidence of the preparation of European countries for a possible military conflict.
"These are profound and structural changes that will transform the defense industry in the medium and long term," said William Albert, senior associate fellow at the Asia-Pacific Forum and former director of NATO arms control.
Earlier it became known that the UK has begun to develop an updated action plan in case of war with Russia.
