OREANDA-NEWS  The Austrian Mondi Group has completed a deal to sell three of its packaging processing plants in Russia, the enterprises were sold to the Gotek group for 1.6 billion rubles. At the same time, the company continues to consider all options for the sale of its key asset in Russia - JSC "Mondi Syktyvkar LPC", the company said.

"After the announcement on December 15, 2022 of an agreement on the sale of three Russian packaging processing enterprises to the Gotek group for a total of 1.6 billion rubles. Mondi confirms that the Gotek Group has received all the necessary permits and the transaction has been completed. Mondi received net proceeds of €30.4 million from this sale to its account in an Austrian bank," the Mondi group said in a statement released on Monday.

According to the company, the net proceeds from the sale of Russian assets will be distributed to shareholders as soon as reasonably possible after receipt, as soon as the company's exit from Russia is completed. "The proposed sale of Mondi Syktyvkar LPC, the largest Mondi enterprise in Russia, is not related to the sale of three packaging processing plants. The Council still intends to sell Mondi Syktyvkar LPC and continues to consider all alternative options for sale," the message adds.

According to the official information of the Gotek Group, the perimeter of the transaction included: a corrugated cardboard packaging plant in the city of Lebedyan, Lipetsk Region, and two flexible packaging plants in Pereslavl-Zalessky, Yaroslavl Region and Aramil, Sverdlovsk region, which produce a wide range of packaging solutions for the Russian market. Gotek has received all the necessary approvals from the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Government Commission of the Russian Federation for the Control of Foreign Investments. Gotek is one of Russia's largest manufacturers of packaging and packaging materials made of cardboard and flexible polymers. It has five production sites in the Kursk, Tula and Leningrad regions, where about 2.3 thousand people work. The group's revenue by the end of 2022 amounted to more than 20 billion rubles.
