OREANDA-NEWS Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that he had never raised the issue of withdrawing Russia's military base from the territory of the republic. His words are reported by the Telegram channel "Sputnik Armenia".
"The Prime Minister (...) He stated that he has been communicating with the President of the Russian Federation [Vladimir Putin] since 2018, and since then he has never raised this topic. According to him, the issue was included in the agenda after the EAEU summit held in Bishkek," the publication says.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference in Bishkek that Moscow was ready to withdraw its military base from the Armenian city of Gyumri if Yerevan considered its presence unnecessary.
In early September, Pashinyan responded to Putin's proposal to withdraw the military base from Gyumri. He said that Yerevan would not object to Moscow's decision.
