OREANDA-NEWS  The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), because of its position against Russia, is losing its effectiveness and the ability to actually deal with the issues that it should. This was stated to journalists by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov in response to the question whether it makes sense for Moscow to remain in this organization.

"Due to the position that the OSCE takes, the organization automatically loses its effectiveness. And the organization is losing the opportunity, not in words, but in deeds, to deal with issues of security and cooperation in Europe," he stated.

The Kremlin representative noted that the antagonistic position towards Russia, which "has been nurtured for the last few presidencies, in fact does not allow the organization to de facto do what it should do." "This, accordingly, reduces the effectiveness of this structure. And, of course, it drives a serious wedge, a stick into the future of this organization," Peskov summed up.

The two-day 29th meeting of the OSCE Council of Foreign Ministers began in Lodz on Thursday. The Polish Foreign Ministry refused entry to the Republic of the Russian delegation headed by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The Russian Foreign Ministry called this decision unprecedented and provocative, incompatible with the status of the chairman of the organization. The Russian delegation at the event in Lodz is headed by Russia's Permanent Representative to the OSCE Alexander Lukashevich.
