OREANDA-NEWS  Putin has ruled out plans to militarize the country and the economy. He announced this at an expanded meeting of the board of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, the event is being broadcast on the Kremlin's Telegram channel.

"We will not engage in the militarization of the country and the militarization of the economy. First of all, because the achieved level of development, the structure of the economy and so on do not require it," the head of state said, noting that the country will not repeat the mistakes of the past and destroy the economy in order to increase its defense capability.

Putin stressed that Russia will continue to improve its armed forces and the entire military component of the state, but this will happen "calmly, rhythmically, without any fuss."

Earlier during the board meeting, Putin said it was necessary to analyze NATO weapons to improve the Russian army. The Russian leader stressed that Russia has all the necessary information about NATO forces and means and it should be carefully studied "to increase the combat capabilities of our troops."
