OREANDA-NEWS   By the end of January, apartment rentals in major Russian cities fell by an average of three percent. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to data from Dom.RF.

In general, the median rental price in Russian cities was 39 thousand rubles per month. In the cities of one million people, the average price decreased by two percent, to 36 thousand rubles, in Moscow — by 1 percent, to 97 thousand rubles, and in St. Petersburg - by 2 percent, to 51 thousand rubles.

At the same time, the number of active housing rental ads has increased to 114,000 publications, or 18 percent more year—on-year. According to experts, apartments bought during the period of high demand continue to enter the market.

The increase in supply has led to an increase in the search time for a tenant. Now it will take an average month to rent an apartment in Moscow, a month and a half in St. Petersburg and other million-plus cities, and almost two months in cities with populations from 500,000 to a million inhabitants.

Earlier, State Duma deputy Sergei Mironov called for not prohibiting the rental of apartments purchased with a mortgage.
