OREANDA-NEWS The earth was hit by the strongest magnetic storm in the last three months. She was assigned the G3+ class, this was announced by the head of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI). RAS Sergey Bogachev, RIA Novosti reports.

"A sharp increase in geomagnetic fluctuations is being recorded. According to the latest measurements, the Kp geomagnetic activity index has dropped to the level of 7.33," the expert said. He noted that the last time such a strong storm was observed was on June 1, when there was a direct impact of a large solar prominence on the planet.

Bogachev added that at the moment the situation in near-Earth space is significantly complicated by the influence of increased solar activity.

Earlier, on September 25, two strong solar flares were recorded in one day.
