OREANDA-NEWS   The European Parliament has rejected a petition from Finnish residents to open the eastern border. This was stated by the head of the communications department of the supreme executive authority, Alessio Inkorvaya, to the Finnish broadcaster Yle.

"Yes, the petitions committee has decided to close this request," the official said.

According to him, the petitions committee decided to close Finland's border with Russia based on the assessment of the European Commission.

According to the newspaper, a Finnish citizen and the non-profit public organization "Alexander Society" appealed to the European Parliament with a request to open the border. In their petition, the applicants noted that the decision of the Government of the country violates the legislation of the European Union.
