OREANDA-NEWS Two thirds of Finns support the government's decision to close the border with Russia, according to a group of regional publications Uutissuomalainen, citing a survey by the research company Tietoykkönen.

"Two out of three Finns are satisfied with the government's actions on the eastern border ... 66% of respondents are either very or quite satisfied with the measures taken to combat organized migration," the article says.

Only 16% of respondents are dissatisfied with the decision of the authorities. People aged 70 are the most satisfied with the government's actions, while Finns aged 18-29 are critical.

The survey was conducted on a representative sample from December 5 to December 13 among thousands of people. The margin of error is 3.1 percentage points.

Finland began imposing restrictions on entry from Russia on November 9 against the background of an uncontrolled flow of refugees from third countries. At first, entry by bicycle from Russia was prohibited at three southeastern checkpoints. By November 24, there was only one working border checkpoint – the northernmost checkpoint Raya-Joosepi, and on November 30, all land border crossings with Russia were closed.
