OREANDA-NEWS   The possibility of resuming imports of agricultural products from Armenia depends on the compliance of supplies with the veterinary and phytosanitary standards of the EAEU, said Oksana Lut, head of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.

"Ensuring the safety of agricultural products, including the use of Armenian producers' own raw materials, control of pesticides, traceability of supplies and other mandatory requirements, is the most important condition for resuming imports of goods currently subject to restrictions," the ministry's press service said following its meeting with Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan.

At the end of May, the Rosselkhoznadzor recognized Armenian fruit and vegetable products as non-compliant, and in mid-July it imposed restrictions on all quarantined supplies. This measure also affected transit through Russia to the EAEU member states.

The ministry noted that it had repeatedly drawn Yerevan's attention to violations, but cases of import of quarantine facilities had not stopped, including a pest capable of destroying up to 70 percent of products. As the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergey Dankvert, later explained, the restrictions are related precisely to the lack of effective quality and safety control, and not to political decisions.
