Initially, seismologists reported a magnitude of 6, but later lowered it.

The tremors were recorded at 17.08 UTC (20.08 Moscow time) 59 kilometers from San Diego and 87 from the city of Palm Springs. According to seismologists, the source was located at a depth of 13.4 kilometers.
