US Predicts Extension of Coronavirus Pandemic for Several Years

OREANDA-NEWS. A worldwide COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic can last several years. This is stated in the report of the Center for Research and Policy on Infectious Diseases at the University of Minnesota, Bloomberg reports.
According to experts, a pandemic will last until about two-thirds of the world's population is ill with the virus and acquires immunity to it. As noted in the report, COVID-19 is quite difficult to control, as in some people it is asymptomatic, but virus carriers can infect others. Experts believe that despite the measures taken by various countries to combat infection, coronavirus will continue to spread in waves, which may occur after 2022.
“The reports of contact risks between people coming from government officials should include the concept that this pandemic will not end soon, and that people should be prepared for possible periodic outbreaks of disease over the next two years”, the report said.
