OREANDA-NEWS  A consortium of Japanese companies will take part in the construction and operation of the new airport complex of Khabarovsk international airport. The agreement was signed on Tuesday in Tokyo, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC Khabarovsk airport, Konstantin Basyuk, and the President of Sojitz Corporation, Masayoshi Fujimoto.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin and Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hiroshige Seko at the 14th meeting of the Russian-Japanese intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic issues.

The consortium includes Sojitz Corporation, as well as JOIN and JATCO, it is included in the authorized capital of Khabarovsk international airport JSC (JSC "MAH") – 100% of the subsidiary of Khabarovsk airport JSC, acquiring a share of 10% of its shares. The shareholders ' agreement also provides for an option to increase the share of the consortium of Japanese companies in JSC "MAH" to 25% plus one share.

This is the first foreign investment in a newly built terminal, the first foreigners to buy shares or become parties to concessions in the existing Russian airports. The amount of the transaction the owner of the airport Konstantin Basyuk does not disclose.

The project involves two stages: first, a new domestic terminal is being built and its operational management begins, and in the second stage, designed for 2020-2023, the construction and subsequent joint management of the new international terminal of Khabarovsk airport is expected.

At the Khabarovsk international airport, a new domestic terminal with a capacity of three million people a year is being built within the framework of the Khabarovsk TOSER. The volume of investment in the project is expected to be 4.9 billion rubles. The commissioning of this facility is scheduled for the third quarter of 2019.
