OREANDA-NEWS. The World Bank Board of Directors has decided to provide Ukraine with a loan of $ 135 million for the medical sector, some of which are designed to combat the coronavirus pandemic. This was stated in the message of the bank.

"The World Bank Board of Directors approved today additional funding in the amount of $ 135 million for the project" Improving healthcare in the service of people, "with the goal of expanding the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which are introduced in the healthcare sector in Ukraine", it was reported. It notes that funding is intended to modernize hospitals, further implement reforms in medicine, and also to train Ukrainian doctors. It's planned that in total about 40 emergency and stroke departments will be updated.

In 2015, the World Bank has already decided to grant a loan to Kiev in the amount of almost $ 215 million under the project "Improving public health at the service of people". The funds were provided for 18 years with a five-year grace period, while the interest rate is variable (in 2015 it was less than 1% per annum).
