OREANDA-NEWS  The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) was large-scale and productive this year, surpassing the results of 2024 in terms of representativeness, which indicates a change in the geopolitical situation in the world, an increase in authority and trust in Russia, said Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg.

According to the press service of the governor's administration, at a working meeting with members of the city government, Beglov thanked his colleagues and everyone who participated in the preparation and holding of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

"SPIEF turned out to be large-scale and effective. In terms of representativeness, it surpassed the results of the previous year. This indicates a change in the geopolitical situation in the world, an increase in authority and trust in Russia," Beglov said, quoted in the message.

According to the governor, St. Petersburg has solved all the tasks set at SPIEF 2025. The city demonstrated its achievements in technology and successes in the implementation of previously concluded agreements.

Beglov noted that for the second year in a row, the SPIEF brought more than 1 trillion rubles of investments to the Northern Capital. 67 agreements have been signed covering all key sectors of the economy. Progress has been made in all 10 priority areas of St. Petersburg's development.

"Urban megaprojects supported by the president have received new impulses. These include the construction of a high–speed railway, a high-speed Latitudinal highway, the implementation of projects "St. Petersburg Marina", "Island of Forts", technological valleys "ITMO-Highpark" and "Nevsky Delta", and others,"the message says.

The governor separately noted two new large-scale projects to create high-speed tram lines that will connect St. Petersburg metro stations with new campuses and technological valleys of ITMO and St. Petersburg State Universities, with the city of Kolpino and the new satellite city of Yuzhny.

Gazprom is investing about 100 billion rubles in the development of engineering and transport networks around the Lakhta Center. Overall, St. Petersburg has signed agreements worth more than 470 billion rubles for infrastructure development.
