OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Transport proposed to fine Russians for violating the rules on the railway through a face recognition system. This is reported by Kommersant.
The ministry explained that the project is primarily aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens.
"The establishment of such a norm in legislation will become an effective measure to prevent the commission of administrative offenses in railway transport, due to the inevitability of bringing to justice for each such offense," the ministry explained.
In turn, the Ministry of Finance reported that the relevant bill has not been received by the department at the moment. The Ministry also added that the data of the Unified Biometric System (UBS) can only be used with the consent of a citizen. Information from the EBS cannot be used for operational investigative activities, the Ministry of Transport added.
