OREANDA-NEWS. October 04, 2010. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada in Turkmenistan Mark Bailey is on a visit to the Turkmen capital.

The diplomat was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, where he was briefed on the major aspects of the domestic and foreign policies of neutral Turkmenistan. Evaluating highly the peace building initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the 65th session of the UN General Assembly to ensure global security and sustainable development, the diplomat said that his country was interested intensifying friendly and mutually advantageous cooperation with Turkmenistan, whose policy of positive neutrality had earned the support worldwide.

Focusing on steady development and significant intensification of the Turkmen-Canadian multi-dimensional dialogue maintained effectively in both bilateral and multilateral format in the framework of the authoritative international organisations, including the UN, Ambassador Mark Bailey noted that his country would provide overall assistance in implementing constructive initiatives of the Turkmen state, including in Turkmenistan’s participation in UN structures, in particular the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the period of 2013-2015.

The willingness to enhance traditional friendly partnership and expand further bilateral ties in a wide range of fields, particularly in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, was expressed during the meeting.
