OREANDA-NEWS. May 18, 2012. The International conference on the Prospects of Development of Transport and Transit in Central Asia and the Caspian Region took place at the conference hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The conference was organized by the Government of Turkmenistan jointly with the International Road Transport Union with assistance of the specialized institutes and structures of the UN, OSCE and the Intergovernmental Commission of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA). The forum brought together 180 participants, including international experts and specialists of the sectoral departments of 18 countries, representatives and heads of ten international organisations, as well as a diplomatic corps accredited in Turkmenistan.

It was noted that the International Conference in Ashgabat had become an important platform to search a common approach to developing the transport system of the region, and enhancing the constructive partnership. The priority vectors for developing the transport and transit in Central Asia and the Caspian region, implementing the huge potential in this sphere were reflected in the Conference Resolution adopted on the outcomes of the forum.
