OREANDA-NEWS. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that if the United States imposes sanctions against the country for the purchase of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems S-400, it would be nothing but manifestation of disrespect for a NATO partner. His words are quoted by the newspaper Haberturk.

“If earlier Mr. Trump or Mr. Obama [US President Donald Trump and ex-President Barack Obama. – Ed.]  said with pride that there is such a country as Turkey in NATO, now the USA is using CAATSA [Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act. – Ed.]. This is disrespect for a very important NATO partner. This is how I see it,” Erdogan said.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and Reuters reported that the American authorities will soon impose sanctions against Turkey due to the purchase of Russian systems S-400. According to The Wall Street Journal, a number of Turkish companies will be subject to the restrictions. The sanctions will be announced on Friday, media’s sources said.
