OREANDA-NEWS. Belarusian oppositionist Valery Tsepkalo, who was not allowed to participate in the presidential election, left for Moscow.

This was reported to RBC news agency by the wife of the politician, Veronika Tsepkalo. She clarified that her spouse left the country after learning of the impending arrest.

Veronika Tsepkalo told the Belarusian portal News.tut.by that her husband took her children with him to Russia in connection with the threat of not only arresting the oppositionist himself, but also depriving his wife of parental rights. “We have received information from reliable sources that they are planning to detain my husband for far-fetched circumstances. We did not know what these circumstances were, but two days ago, the prosecutor’s office representatives came to the school where my children study and asked the teachers to write statements. As I understand it, they launched a process to revoke my parental rights. That is why we made the decision that we are taking Valery and children out of the territory of Belarus, because we see a real threat and danger,” Veronika Tsepkalo explained.
