OREANDA-NEWS. On December 11, the government of Georgia resigned due to the start of the work of the new parliament.

87 out of 150 deputies voted for the adoption of the draft resolution on the recognition of the powers of the members of parliament of the tenth convocation. Thus, after the start of the work of the new parliament, the government of the republic should automatically resign and exercise its powers until the approval of the new composition of the cabinet of ministers.

The parliamentary election in Georgia was held in two rounds. The first took place on October 31, the second on November 21.

According to the Central Election Commission, the ruling party Georgian Dream won 48.22 % of votes, receiving 90 seats in the national parliament. The party’s candidates won in all 17 single-mandate constituencies.

The opposition bloc entered parliament with 27.18 % of votes.
