OREANDA-NEWS. The United States Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit by Republicans who demanded to ban the summing up of the official results of the presidential election in Pennsylvania State and the recognition of the victory of Democrat Joe Biden there.

The lawsuit was filed by a group of representatives of the US Republican Party, including Congressman Mike Kelly. They argued that about 2.5 million ballots that were sent by mail should not be counted. Republicans stressed that there were violations during the sending of ballots.

The Supreme Court dismissed the claim without providing further explanation.

Earlier, the Governor of Pennsylvania, Democrat Tom Wolf, said that local authorities had already approved the voting results in the presidential election in the state, according to which Biden won the victory over the incumbent President Donald Trump. According to the latest data, Biden received 50 % of votes, and his rival was supported by 48.8 % of citizens.
