OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed to the decline in direct investment in the economy of Yakutia.
The Head of state met with the head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev, in the Kremlin on Tuesday, they discussed issues of socio-economic development of the region.
The head of Yakutia explained the decrease in indicators by the fact that the implementation of the largest project for the region has already been completed - the construction of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, investments in which amounted to over 1 trillion rubles.
"Yes, after such projects, it is difficult to maintain the level (of investments - ed.), of course, I understand," Putin responded.
The President also asked the head of Yakutia to report on the development of hydropower and the work of RusHydro.
"I want to say that there are many questions about the energy sector of the Far East as a whole, they were and still are, unfortunately: This is the tariff component, as well as the electric grid. RusHydro, of course, does a lot of work, but they still need help, although, as they say, there is profit there, and so on, but in reality the situation in the Far East is very difficult in terms of energy," said Nikolaev.
He said that two gigawatts of energy capacity are being created simultaneously in Yakutia, which the region plans to introduce over the next three years.
