OREANDA-NEWS. Vladimir Putin signed a decree on retaliatory visa measures for unfriendly countries. The corresponding document is published on the official portal of legal information.

It is noted that the decree was signed "based on the need to take urgent measures in response to unfriendly actions of the European Union."

According to the document, Russia suspends a number of clauses of visa facilitation agreements with the EU, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

"In accordance with paragraph 4 of Article 37 of Federal Law No. 101-FZ of July 15, 1995 On International Treaties of the Russian Federation, suspend the following provisions of international treaties of the Russian Federation: May 25, 2006: Subparagraphs a and e of paragraph 1 of Article 4, subparagraph a of paragraph 1, subparagraphs a and g of paragraph 2 of Article 5, subparagraphs b and c of paragraph 3 of Article 6, paragraph 1 of Article 11," the document says.

In particular, the decree affects the provisions of diplomatic passports. The norm allowing their holders to enter the territory of Russia without visas is suspended.

It is noted that these measures will affect the official delegations of the EU countries and journalists.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation was instructed to send appropriate notifications to the representative offices of these states. In addition, the President instructed the Russian Foreign Ministry to impose personal restrictions on entry into the Russian Federation for foreigners and stateless persons who commit unfriendly actions.

Earlier it was reported that Norway is resuming the issuance of non-tourist visas to Russians from April 4. Reception of citizens in a limited mode is resumed at VFS visa centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Kazan, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk. In institutions it will be possible to apply for all types of residence permits, as well as visas required for visiting relatives and friends, business and official visits, participation in cultural, sporting events and study.
