OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit St. Petersburg in mid-January to take part in events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the blockade breakout. The upcoming visit of the head of state to the Northern capital was reported by the Vedomosti newspaper, citing sources. The Kremlin has not yet officially confirmed this information.

Next week, on Thursday, January 18, the 80th anniversary of the breaking of the siege of Leningrad will be celebrated. Commemorative events will be held at Victory Square, memorial cemeteries and other addresses related to the Great Patriotic War.

The program of Putin's visit to St. Petersburg is not yet known. The last time the President visited the Northern Capital was at the end of December during the informal summit of the CIS heads.
