OREANDA-NEWS  The Justice and Development Party (AKP) of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has confirmed that he intends to visit Russia next week for talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Daily Sabah reported on Monday.

"President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is going to visit Russia next week and meet with President Vladimir Putin, this may lead to progress in Russia's return to the most important Black Sea grain deal," the newspaper quoted AKP representative Omer Celik as saying.

Earlier on Monday, the media, citing Turkish officials, reported that on September 8, Erdogan may go to Russia to discuss a "grain deal" with Putin.

Also on Monday, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Putin has international trips planned in the fall, which the Kremlin will inform about in a timely manner, and a meeting with Erdogan will take place in the near future.

"Indeed, the meeting (with Erdogan - IF) will take place soon, and we will inform about it in a timely manner," Peskov told reporters.

The "grain deal" was concluded in Istanbul on July 22, 2022. With the participation of the UN, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine, two documents were signed - on the creation of a corridor for the export of grain from three Ukrainian ports (Chernomorsk, Odessa and Yuzhny) and on the removal of barriers to the export of Russian food and fertilizers. The initiative was extended in November 2022 for 120 days, until March, then twice more - for two months. Moscow did not extend the "grain deal" and on July 17 sent its objections to Ankara, Kiev and the UN.
