OREANDA-NEWS. A new Netflix project, the animated series "Arcane", has surpassed another hit of the streaming service, the South Korean show "Squid Game", FixPatrol reports.

The animated series, based on the League of Legends video game universe, topped the most-watched show category on Netflix in more than 38 countries, ahead of multiseries thriller "Squid Game", which was the leader in this indicator for 46 days.

"Arcane" has also received positive reviews from viewers and critics. On IMDb, for example, it received a score of 9.4 out of a possible ten, and on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes it received 100 per cent "freshness" from critics and 98 per cent from audiences.

Interestingly, only three series out of nine achieved this result. While Netflix used to post the season in its entirety on the platform, the release of "Arcane" has been split into parts. Thus, the first three episodes premiered on November 6. The next six will be released within two weeks: on November 13 and then on November 20.

The show is set in the wealthy town of Pilwater and the deprived neighbourhood of Zauna. It centres on two sisters who have had to be separated and then get on the other side of the barricades because of the feud that has taken place between the two areas.
