"Quantum Leap" and "Dune" Actor Dean Stockwell has Died

OREANDA-NEWS. American actor Dean Stockwell, known for the TV series "Quantum Leap" and the 1984 film "Dune", died at the age of 85 years, reports Deadline, citing his family.
It is noted that the actor died the morning of November 7 at home from natural causes.
Dean Stockwell was born in 1936 in North Hollywood. Stockwell's acting career spanned more than 70 years. He began as a child star on the theatrical stage and went on to a film career, starring in Raising Anchors (1945) with Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly.
In 1984 Stockwell played Dr. Wellington Yue, a traitor to the House of Atreides, in the film adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel Dune. In 1986 Stockwell continued his collaboration with Lynch, playing a striking cameo as drug dealer Ben in Blue Velvet.
The role of Admiral Calavicci in the NBC science series "Quantum Leap", which ran for five seasons from 1989 to 1993, earned Stockwell an Emmy Award nomination and a Golden Globe nomination, and in 1990 he received a Golden Globe Award for "Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series, Mini-Series or Movie".
The actor was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 29, 1992. Stockwell was nominated for an Oscar for his supporting role in the 1988 film Married to the Mob. Prior to that, he was twice voted Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival in 1959 and 1962.
