OREANDA-NEWS  Russia plans to deliver a low-power nuclear power plant to the moon, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov told RIA Novosti in an interview.

"First, we need to work out all the technologies on the Moon, and then move on to other planets. When developing technologies on the Moon, in particular, with our Chinese partners, it is necessary to provide the station with energy. We are talking about delivering our low—power nuclear power plant to the moon," he said on the eve of the SPIEF.

Manturov clarified that a small nuclear power plant will allow: to provide energy to a space station on a natural satellite of the Earth; to develop technologies for further space exploration.
It is impossible to talk about deep space without exploring the near space, which includes the Moon, the Deputy Prime Minister added. According to him, Russia will first of all study it and Venus, then you can think about Mars.

According to preliminary plans, the international lunar research station will be created by 2035. At the end of last year, Roscosmos reported that a domestic nuclear power plant was planned to be delivered there in 2033-2035.
