OREANDA-NEWS A microprocessor-controlled knee module designed for people after hip amputation was created in the Russian Federation, its cost will be 20-30% lower than that of foreign analogues, Vedomosti newspaper writes, citing Nikolai Ermalyuk, founder of the Metiz group of companies, who presented the development.
According to the newspaper, an electronic hydraulic knee module with microprocessor control is a component of a hip prosthesis that analyzes a person's gait in real time. "Metiz Group has released a knee module with microprocessor control, one of the first domestic medical devices of this type for people after hip amputation... It is assumed that the cost of the product will be 20-30% lower than the price of foreign analogues," Vedomosti writes with reference to Ermalyuk.
As Ermalyuk told the newspaper, the total investments in the development of the product and the preparation of its production amounted to more than 400 million rubles, while part of the costs were covered by subsidies from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. According to him, the first batch of products has already been delivered to Russian prosthetic and orthopedic centers.
"After launching stable production for the domestic market, Metiz plans to export the product. It is planned to promote the new product line in countries where the company already has stable business ties and existing supply channels. A specific list of countries and release dates are still being worked out," added the founder of the group.
