OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2016. CMS Energy's largest subsidiary, Consumers Energy, Michigan's largest utility and the fourth-largest U.S. combination utility, today announced three new changes to its leadership team.

Patti Poppe, president and chief executive officer. "Our strategy is built around our promise to Michigan to provide safe, reliable and affordable electric and natural gas service to our customers and the communities we serve." The following changes are effective September 1:

  • Venkat (DV) Rao is named senior vice president of strategy and business planning, which includes corporate strategy, utility budget and sales forecast, CMS Enterprises, CMS Land and EnerBank. He formerly was vice president, treasurer, financial planning and investor relations. In his new role for this new business unit he will focus on strategy and supporting financial planning. He is a 17-year Company employee. Rao earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Mumbai and a postgraduate diploma in management from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Lucknow. He is a CFA charterholder and completed the Graduate Management Program at Harvard Business School.
  • Sri Maddipati is named vice president, treasurer and investor relations, reporting to

    Tom Webb, executive vice president and chief financial officer. He joined the company in 2014 after serving as a vice president in the Financial Institutions Group, Investment Banking, at Goldman Sachs in New York, NY. He has a bachelor's and master's degree in engineering and an MBA, all from the University of Michigan.

  • Tamara Faber-Doty is named vice president of information technology, reporting to

    Brian Rich, senior vice president and chief information officer. She joined Consumers Energy in 2013, after serving as global manager at First Solar in Ohio, and as a manager at Visteon. She has a BBA from Western Michigan University and an MBA from Michigan State University.
