Hyperloop lawsuit is a web of absurdity

IndustryTransport
OREANDA-NEWS. July 13, 2016. I don't normally write about lawsuits. Not only do I find them horrendously boring, but I imagine most of you do, too. But this one is special. Not only does it involve Hyperloop, the brainchild of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, but it involves some of the strangest tales told outside niche subreddits.

The lawsuit alleges that Hyperloop One's higher-ups are misusing funds in a variety of ways. There are claims of breach of contract, defamation, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and violations of the California labor code.

We'll start with the big names. This lawsuit includes: Shervin Pishevar, a Hyperloop co-founder who was an early Uber investor; Joe Lonsdale, a venture capitalist that was the co-founder of Palantir Technologies; Robert Lloyd, Hyperloop's CEO and formerly a potential Cisco CEO; and Brogan BamBrogan, a Hyperloop co-founder who mysteriously resigned last month, and is a man in possession of an awesome name.

This is where it gets weird. The suit alleges that Pishevar started dating Hyperloop One's public relations flack while also increasing her pay from an already-ridiculous \\$15,000 per month to an outright-ridiculous \\$40,000 per month. Further claims include one where Lonsdale allegedly tried to get the company to use his brother's two-man investment firm.

The suit also claims that Pishevar's brother placed a noose on BamBrogan's chair during a Hyperloop dinner with Russian investors. (I'm pretty sure he's just jealous of the guy's name. I sure am.) After this point, the suit alleges that the defendants started a smear campaign, hence the defamation claim.

You can read the lawsuit and subsequently fall down this pit of ridiculousness below. (Hat tip to CNBC!)
