OREANDA-NEWS  Last year, sales of new cars spurred devaluation. They change gradually, but the situation remains difficult in 2017. The president of the association "Russian Automobile Dealers" Oleg Moseev said about it at the conference "Automobile market of Russia - 2017. Results and forecasts".

"Everybody is waiting for a quick recovery of the former sales volumes, but it does not happen. At a recent economic forum in Sochi, it was reported that for the first month of the new year it was shown the sustained economic growth, and in the sales of new cars the beginning of the year again showed a "minus". Obviously, the number of those who want to buy a new car will grow, as soon as there is a strong confidence in tomorrow. My forecast for 2017: the growth in sales for the season in the range of 5 - 7% against the values of the previous year, although due to macroeconomic indicators, it could may be a "minus" for the same amount," - said Mr. Moseev.

Regardless of the brand, the year for dealers will be heavy. The earnings by the new models are almost zero. And the situation cannot be reversed radically, otherwise channels on trade-in and service will disappear. According to the head of the ROAD, the service in 2017 is waiting for a "pit": the sales of new cars were declining during three years, and the service market fell seriously. The main driver of growth will remain cars with mileage. For comparison: in the US and the EU, the share of such vehicles reaches 30%, and in the Russian Federation - about 11%. In other words, there is a benchmark for growth.

As for the participants of the Russian market, someone can leave it again, and someone, for example Cadillac, Infiniti, Jaguar, will remain with a niche product. In mass sales, the ball will be ruled by Hyundai, KIA, Volkswagen, Skoda, Renault, and Nissan. In the premium segment, "on horseback" there will remain Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, BMW and Audi.
