Flooding shuts Magellan Houston products line

OREANDA-NEWS. June 03, 2016.  Magellan Midstream Partners has suspended service on a refined products pipeline in the Houston, Texas, area because of flooding.

The 16-inch line was shut as a safety precaution because of rising water where the pipeline crosses Spring Creek near Spring, Texas, north of Houston. There was no product release related to the shut down.

The segment of Magellan's pipeline system moves gasoline and diesel fuel from Gulf Coast area refineries and facilities to central, northern and west Texas distribution terminals.

"We are taking action to provide some alternative supply options for the affected markets," the company said.

The segment will likely be out of service for at least two weeks.
