OREANDA-NEWS.  Totally in the first half of 2016, the Volkswagen Group handed over 5.12 million vehicles to customers worldwide. Thus, the increase compared to the same period of the last year was 1.5%, informed the press service of the company.

While there was a significant increase in sales as in Europe, so in Asia-Pacific region, they remained approximately at the level of last year in North America and in South America they continued to decline. "In the first half of the year there is a significant increase, which, in particular, was achieved thanks to high sales in June. The main prerequisites for the growth were created by the Asia-Pacific region and Europe. This positive result indicates the consumer confidence in our products, even in this difficult time,"- said Fred Kappler, the head of sales of Group.

In the first six months of this year, Volkswagen has transferred its European customers 2.2 million new cars. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the growth was 3.8%. Positive trends were observed as in the West (+ 3.3%), so in Central and Eastern Europe (+ 6.7%). In Western Europe, we have demonstrated good results, especially Italy and Germany, in Central and Eastern Europe - Poland and Czech Republic.

In North America, for the first half the group has sold 444,100 cars, which is less only by 1.6% than a year before. In South America, for the first six months of the year it has been transferred to customers 223 800 vehicles (24.7% compared to the previous year). However, the overall economic situation in the region, particularly in Brazil, remains tense - the number of sold cars here continues to decline.
