OREANDA-NEWS. During the implementation of the priority national project “Education” in 2006, OJSC North-West Telecom provided internet access to 1 741 educational institutions in the North-Western Federal district of the Russian Federation. This exceeds the planned number of schools that was estimated earlier as 1 704.

Within the project “Education” in 2006 internet access was provided to 177 educational institutions in the Arkhangelsk region and Nenets Autonomous District, 170 institutions in the Republic of Karelia, 161 in the Komi Republic, 224 in the Vologda region, 112 in the Kaliningrad region, 238 in the Leningrad region, 196 in the Murmansk region, 133 in the Novgorod region, 253 in Pskov region and 77 in the city of St.-Petersburg.

In 2007 OJSC North-West Telecom together with OJSC “PTKomm.RU” will continue to adhere to their commitment to provide internet access to educational institution in North-Western Russia.  High-speed access to educational online resources will be provided to more than 1400 schools in distant and hard to reach areas of the federal district.
