OREANDA-NEWS. August 22, 2007. 22 August 2007 Transcontainer jointly with Latvian railways launched a new container train to operate between Moscow and Riga. Train #1231/1232 has left the Baltic container terminal in Riga port for Moscow.

The train will deliver transit cargo from China, and then empty containers will return to Riga. The train's container capacity is 82 TEU. The time en route is 48 hours.

It is planned that with the support of the Latvian railways in the near future the train will start to operate between Moscow and Riga weekly.

It is expected that about 3 th. TEU will be transported by the end of 2007.
