OREANDA-NEWS. Vnukovo International’s operating results for the period of the first eight months of 2007 have been totted up with the data looking as follows: a total of 4 million 353 thousand passengers have used the Airport from January to September this year, representing a 25,6 % improvement against the same period of 2006.

According to Vnukovo media center, international passenger numbers (the CIS countries and beyond) comprise 1 million 701 thousands for the period under review – a 21 percent improvement over the same period of last year with the routes to Antalya, Hurghada, Tivat, Yerevan, Berlin, Cologne and Donetsk topping the ist of most popular destinations.

Vnukovo International has welcomed another 2 million and 652 thousand passengers traveling on domestic routes during the January-Augst period – a 28,7 percent improvement over the same period of last year. The routes to Sochi, Krasnodar, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Tymen, and Kaliningrad have demonstrated the most significant growth in passenger numbers.

Total passenger numbers at Vnukovo International continue to dispay a steady growth trend and the month of August has brought a 20 % increase at a  total of 819 thousand passengers handled against the same month of last year.

Vnukovo International is one of Russia’s largest air transport hubs with over 100 thousand flights by more than a hundred and forty carriers both domestic and foreign served here annually. The Airport’s route network comprises around 200 scheduled and charter destinations, the latter accounting for the bulk of the Airport’s passenger numbers, and another 450 destinations served by general aviation. The flight geography spans most of Russia’s regions, the CIS countries and other nations – former members of the Union, as well as countries in Western Europe, Asia and Africa.
