OREANDA-NEWS. Far East Telecom's H107 IAS net profit surged 110% times y-o-y to Rub 778.9 mln. As for other indicators, sales soared 40.3% to Rub 7.25 bln, opex climbed 40.7% to Rub 4,912 mln, OIBDA advanced 39.4% to Rub 2,338 mln and OIBDA margin slipped from 32.4% to 32.2%. Far East Telecom's first-half financial statement includes the figures achieved by Sakhatelecom, 51% of which were acquired in December 2006. Sakhatelecom's revenue amounted to Rub 1.4 bln, OIBDA amounted to Rub 353.1 mln, OIBDA margin reached 25% and net profit totaled Rub 139.4 mln.

According to analysts of Finam, an investment company, Far East Telecom's showings were affected by the accrual of a reserve for the fulfillment of the obligation to pay cash to the budget for the breach of antimonopoly legislation. The telecom operator recognized a contingent loss of Rub 205.8 mln in its H106 report in connection with a demand by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) to transfer to the federal budget earnings derived from illegally established interconnect tariffs.
