OREANDA-NEWS. Chen Zi-Shan, head of Harbin Railways, in a telegramm to Far Eastern Railways stated that due to the joint efforts of the two companies, freight volumes flowing across the Russian-Chinese border at Grodekovo and Suifenhe had recorded a steady increase, Russian Railways' press-service reported.

Between January and September 2007, Russia exported 6.6 million tonnes of freight via the Grodekovo border station, 1.1 million tonnes or 120.8% more than in the same period in 2006, while imports amounted to 268,400 tonnes, an increase of 28,300 tonnes or 111.8% as compared with the first three quarters of 2006.

The number of trains in both directions increased compared to the same period last year from 9 to 10.7 per day.
