OREANDA-NEWS. On October 30, 2007 while opening the meeting the director of Volgodonsk NPP Alexander Palamarchuk said: “Now that our economy is dynamically developing and every day we are facing sharp - and sometimes not favorable - changes on the market, your work is getting increasingly important - in fact, it is one of the key prerequisites of our efficiency, reported the press-centre of Volgodonsk NPP.

Quick and effective analysis of information about counterparties and well-organized protection of commercial secret are the key guarantees of the economic security of our companies. You are real professionals and you findings and recommendations will certainly help us to improve our information policy and to enhance our economic efficiency.”

The chairman of the meeting, the head of the Information Support Directorate of Rosenergoatom Milkhail Bekhtev welcomed his colleagues and thanked the hosts for good organization. “It is warm at your plant not only because your weather is warm but also because your people are kind,” Bekhtev said.

The key topic of the meeting was the federal target program for the development of the nuclear power industry in 2007-2015 and its key task - the construction of two nuclear power units a year. This requires big financing (one unit costs $1.5bln) and big purchases (equipment and other assets). “Many commercial companies wish to work with us but some of them are not reliable and just seek to improve their financial position at our expense,” Bekhtev said.

The conferees not just told about their work and plans but gave specific figures, particularly, they presented their achievements in economic safety. Bekhtev said that one of the key priorities of the economic safety services is prevention of supply of poor-quality equipment with fake certificates. “Everything concerning the safety of our nuclear power plants is a top priority for us,” Bekhtev said.

The conferees discussed how to improve the economic safety of the Russian nuclear power plants, how to effectively protect commercial secret, analyzed the counterparty check-up methodologies used at the REA NPPs and the measures they take to prevent crimes against economic safety.

Representatives of the central and regional offices of the Federal Security Service, Interior Ministry and Taxation Service of Russia took part in the meeting.
