OREANDA-NEWS. November 1, 2007. It is known that the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev urged the head of SOCAR to turn SOCAR into a modern and strong company meeting international standards. Therefore, SOCAR’s departments, divisions and enterprises are working to apply international systems.

Ecology Department also makes an effort to meet international standards while creating secure job places and healthy work environment, protecting environment. Since November, 2006 the Department started cooperating with the Institute of Turkish Standards to improve management and to educate the employees in accordance with the standard requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001. The Department has already received the ISO 14001 and 9001 certificates of International Standards Organization.

In addition, the Department carries out necessary works on OHSAS 18001-Healthy Work Condition and Security Support System. The Institute of Turkish Standards is supposed to carry out audit in the department in December of next year. Moreover, European Organization for Quality is negotiated to receive audit certificates. By obtaining the certificates, the employees of Ecology Department will be able to examine performances of the local and foreign companies which explore, produce and refine hydrocarbons, considering the requirements of ISO 14001 system.
