Throughput of Archangelsk Commercial Seaport Down 2.7%
OREANDA-NEWS. November 15, 2007. In January-October 2007, Archangelsk Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 1.249 million tonnes (-2.76%, year-on-year). In the reported period, transshipment of export cargo totaled 358,300 tonnes (-39.4%, year-on-year), import – 239,400 tonnes (+57.9%). Transshipment of coastal trade cargo grew by 21.3% to 592,300 tonnes. Transshipment of local cargo fell by 21.1% to 58,990 tonnes.
Archangelsk Commercial Seaport is a multi-profile stevedoring company operating at the port of Archangelsk. It is specialized in transshipment of general cargo, cellulose, cardboard, containers, timber, metal, fertilizers, heavy equipment and dry bulk cargo. ACS’s facilities enable it to handle 4.5 million tonnes of cargo per year. Import cargo flows to the port of Archangelsk come mostly from Europe. Then cargo usually goes to Central Russia and Kazakhstan. Export cargo handled at the port comes mainly from Archangelsk region, Urals, Komi and Siberia to be shipped to Germany, Netherlands, North America and Canada.
Major shareholders of ASTP OJSC are Norilsk Nickel Company – 53.5% of shares, Federal Property Management Agency (Rosimushchestvo) -20%, North Shipping Company – 19.7%.
