OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 February 2008 was announced, that Southern Telecommunications Company, the largest fixed-line operator and Internet provider in the South Federal District and Sky Link that provides high speed mobile Internet access and voice services in thirty one constituent entities* has signed a cooperation agreement.

According to this agreement, the companies are implementing a project in the Krasnodar region intended to jointly provide telecom services on the basis of ADSL 2+ and CDMA 2000 1x EV-DO technology. Thus, the companies’ users will be able to receive broadband Internet access not only in located access points but also in mobile mode.

This agreement provides a comprehensive solution to arrange Internet access at the first stage through in-house sales points and then sales are to be performed through dealer and agent sales outlets.

 “Integration of services based on the most advanced wireless and broadband Internet access technologies will make it possible to expand the opportunities of an incumbent operator and our range of services. From now on, customers will be able to use a new solution and optimize their telecom expenses thanks to flexible tariff plans”, South Telecom Company CEO Alexander Andreev said.

“In 2007 the broadband Internet access subscriber base in the Krasnodar region topped 50,000. We project the number of subscribers which need both fixed and mobile Internet access to grow. Coupled with STC we are working on providing such Internet users optimum service in terms of quality and price, which combines the advantages of the two technologies and aims at long-term bundled services”, said Sky Link CEO Gulnara Khasyanova. 

Longer term, the companies plan to expand bundled service options and provide joint telecom solutions based on converged services.
