OREANDA-NEWS. The Murmansk oblast of the Russian Federation intends to develop economic and socio-cultural ties with the Gomel oblast of Belarus, Chairman of the Murmansk Oblast Duma Evgeny Nikora told reporters in Gomel on May 27.

According to Evgeny Nikora, the Russian region is interested in Belarus’ experience in innovation development of the national economy and the social sphere. “We would like to study this positive experience and, possibly, to introduce it in our region,” he added.

Moreover, Belarus has powerful research potential and the skilled engineers who could be involved in developing the investment projects in the Murmansk oblast.

According to Evgeny Nikora, the strengthening of the trade and economic cooperation of the Murmansk and Gomel oblasts will promote the participation of companies of the two regions in joint exhibitions and fairs. The Russian region also proposed to organize the Days of the Gomel Oblast in Murmansk this autumn.

A delegation of the Murmansk oblast is in the Gomel oblast on a two-day visit. During the visit to the region, the Russian guests will visit OAO Komintern, Spartak, Gomel Glass Works, Gomel Meat-Packing Plant, agricultural company Brilevo. The representatives of the Murmansk Duma will also visit the Gomel Museum of Military Glory, the Vetka Folk Museum and the Palace of the Rumyatsevs-Paskevichs. The Russian deputies will have talks with the leadership of the South-East region of the country. A cooperation agreement is expected to be signed between the Murmansk Oblast Duma and the Gomel Oblast Council of Deputies.
